Hamilton to get new Ferrari race engineer for 2026 season

Riccardo Adami’s stint as Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer has ended after a single season. Lewis Hamilton will work with a new race engineer during the 2026 season after Ferrari confirmed that Riccardo Adami has shifted to a role within the team’s academy. Adami, who previously served as Carlos Sainz’s engineer, teamed up with Hamilton when the seven-time World Champion took the Spaniard’s place at Ferrari in 2025. However, after a challenging first campaign for Hamilton in red, which included a fair share of tense radio exchanges with Adami, a decision to change the Briton’s engineering set-up has been made. A statement released by the famous Italian marque on Friday read: “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Riccardo Adami has moved to a new role within the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy as Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and Test Previous Cars Manager, where his extensive trackside experience and Formula 1 expertise contributes to the development of future talent and to strengthening performance culture across the program. “Scuderia Ferrari HP would like to thank Riccardo for his commitment and contribution to his trackside role and wishes him every success in his new position. “The appointment of the new Race Engineer for car #44 will be announced in due course.” Adami started his F1 career with Minardi in the early-2000s, sticking with the squad as they morphed into Toro Rosso and engineering drivers such as Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo. He joined Ferrari in 2015, initially reuniting with Vettel as the German’s race engineer, before stints alongside Sainz and then Hamilton.
