CHP says a newly purchased Mustang was impounded almost immediately after a reckless high-speed run https://www.carscoops.com/author/stephen-rivers/ by Stephen Rivers 2 hours ago by Stephen Rivers CHP arrested a Mustang owner shortly after leaving the dealership. Officers say the man had owned the car for about an hour. Police impounded the car for reckless, dangerous highway driving. Driving home from the dealer in a new (to you) car can be a truly surreal experience. It can take days, weeks, or even longer to come back down to reality after the purchase of a long-sought-after vehicle. For one California man, the honeymoon period in his newly acquired Ford Mustang lasted for less than the drive home. No, he didn’t crash. Instead, he saw police impound the car after they allegedly caught him going 139 mph (224 km/h) about an hour after he bought it.According to the California Highway Patrol’s Modesto division, officers watched the newly bought Ford Mustang GT blast past a Specially Marked Patrol Vehicle at a staggering 139 mph on State Route 99. Unsurprisingly, that was enough to end the ownership experience almost as soon as it started.More: Mustang Driver Becomes Wyoming Police Poster Boy For How Not To CornerCHP says the driver was weaving past other motorists at high speed when they were clocked on radar. An enforcement stop quickly followed, and instead of taking celebratory photos with his “new-to-him” Mustang, the driver ended the night in handcuffs.Officers say the man had owned the car for about an hour before losing both his freedom and his freshly purchased ride. The Mustang was immediately impounded. Authorities emphasized that reckless drivers like this are a major threat to everyone else on the road, adding that they “will take all measures” to get them off the highway. Let’s all be real for a moment and be a bit grateful. We’ve all heard and seen stories far worse than this, where drivers have crashed or worse on their way home from the dealer. No doubt, this kind of speed on a public road, and in a Mustang no less, is like a cosmic request for something bad to happen, but thankfully, in this case, nobody was hurt. And on the bright side, the driver has a story that they’ll be telling for years to come. Maybe this can be the basis of a future feature film police revenge story called “Gone in Sixty Minutes.” Credit: CHP --> TAGS Ford Mustang Offbeat News Police Safety Follow us on Google News MSN Start Follow Carscoops on Google News Follow Carscoops on MSN Start Stephen Rivers Associate Editor Stephen, affectionately known as Rivers, has gracefully transitioned from being a repair shop manager and...
