There's nothing more frustrating than rushing to work or doing the school run, only to find your car's windscreen frozen over, obstructing your view and preventing you from driving off. After all, you're obliged to ensure proper visibility through your windows before setting off. Realistically, no one wants to risk a fine or penalty points on their licence for driving with a poorly cleared windscreen.Driving with a frozen or partially iced-up windscreen is not only illegal but also dangerous, leading to penalties such as a £100 fine and 3 points on your licence, or even a hefty £5,000 fine.In severe cases, drivers could also face a potential driving ban under Careless Driving, as it's mandatory to have a clear view of the road, including all windows, mirrors, lights, and number plates. So, what's the quickest and most effective way to remove the ice? While many drivers have their own techniques for clearing a windscreen of ice, whether manually or by warming up the car before driving off, this can often be time-consuming, risking making you late for wherever you need to be.To assist drivers with this common winter problem, The Galadari Driving Centre in Dubai has shared a straightforward yet effective method on how to defrost your windscreen in just a few minutes without having to manually scrape off the ice.The first thing you should do is crank up your heater to the highest setting possible while also turning the AC fan to the maximum setting to circulate warm air throughout your car.Next, you should activate the windshield heating button to speed up the defrosting process. Finally, for the last step, simply direct the heating so that it focuses on blowing hot air onto the windshield. Then all you have to do is sit back and relax for a few minutes as your car's heating system works to defrost your windshield. Firstly, ensure your wipers are switched off. If they're on and frozen to the screen, the plastic could rip off.Firstly, start your engine and utilise the warm air blower and window heaters to defrost the windows. The air conditioning can also aid in removing moisture from the air, preventing the car from fogging up. Proceed to clear any snow and ensure that the lights are clean and functional.Lastly, use a scraper and de-icer if necessary to remove ice from the exterior of the windows. It's crucial not to set off until all the windows are completely clear, regardless of how long this takes. The experts caution against using hot or even lukewarm water, as the AA explains that the heat causes the window to expand, risking the entire windscreen cracking and shattering.
