His announcement as part of the Toyota team’s 2026 WRC line-up comes on the back of a remarkable season in which he dominated the WRC2 title race and scored a maiden world championship win on a one-off Rally Estonia outing aboard a GR Yaris Rally1.“Getting to this place hasn’t been easy,” said Solberg. “When you look back to 2022, that was tough. I was really low after that year and for quite a while – but we came out of that time with a deal to drive in Rally2 and I started to rebuild, to get the speed and the confidence back. But the goal was always to sign to drive a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 and maybe have the chance to drive in Rally1.“We came step-by-step and we made it, winning the WRC2 and winning Rally Estonia overall this year – the whole thing has been a miracle in my opinion.”To read Solberg’s column in full, and enjoy an exclusive podcast on Toyota’s lineup, join Club DirtFish here.Words:David Evans Tags: Oliver Solberg, Toyota, WRC, WRC 2026 Publish Date November 10, 2025 DirtFish https://dirtfish-editorial.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/2025/11/0y9X45aF-SOLBERG08EST25tb301-780x520.jpg November 10, 2025 Up Next
